Address Verification in Descartes Finale

Accurate shipping addresses help reduce delays, returns and failed deliveries. Address verification checks addresses before shipment creation so teams can catch issues early and correct them before orders leave the warehouse.

Verification also normalizes addresses into a format that carriers can process more reliably. This helps reduce issues caused by inconsistent abbreviations, formatting and address order.

Address verification in Descartes Finale depends on the Finale-ShipRush integration. To enable it, contact Finale to discuss adding Descartes ShipRush to your account.

Verification Status in the Order List

In the order list, the Ship to: Verified column shows the verification status for each shipping address. This example shows the verification status in the Ship to: Verified column in the order list.

Status

Meaning

Unverified

The address has not been verified yet.

Verified

The address was verified successfully.

Failed

The address did not pass verification.

Use this column to spot orders with address issues before you create a shipment. Orders with a Failed status need review, but they can still move forward in some cases.

Warning: A failed verification result is a warning, not a hard stop. Shipment creation might still succeed, but the label could fail or the shipment could be less likely to reach its destination successfully.

When an address is verified, Finale also normalizes it. The normalized version replaces the original address so carrier systems can process it more consistently. If needed, you can revert to the pre-verification address in the sales order details.

For more detail, review the address verification information in the sales order.

Verification Status in Sales Order Details
