Updating the Finale Inventory Mobile Scanner App
If you use a mobile scanner, Android device, or an Android emulator to run the Finale Inventory app for barcode scanning, you’ll want to keep the app up to date. We release updates roughly once per quarter to fix bugs and add new features.
How you update depends on the type of device and operating system you use:
Android Phone or Scanner with Google Play Store: Open the Google Play Store and update or install the app directly.
Android Device with Google Enterprise (no Play Store): You must manually uninstall the app from Android settings, then download and install the latest version from our direct link. Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the linked guide below.
OS Version Requirement: As of 2024, Finale Inventory only supports Android OS version 8.1 or higher, in line with Google Play Store requirements.
Legacy Windows Mobile App: Support ended in 2020. The last release was Version 12172 (2020-11-17). Access to this version and related UI features was removed in 2021. There is no support for this old Windows CE/Mobile version of the application, and Google Chrome ended support for its architecture in 2024.
Important Notes
If you have an older release of the Android app, you may see an in-app menu option to Update the software. Do not use this option. It will not work. Always follow the correct update process based on your device type.
