Using the "Convert to eaches" barcode scanner setting

The "Convert to eaches" feature on the scanner is useful when you want to automatically convert case quantities into individual units (eaches) upon receiving a purchase order, a transfer order, or performing a stock take.

For example, if you scan 2 cases of a product where each case contains 6 units, enabling this feature will record 12 units instead of 2 cases. This is particularly beneficial for businesses that manage inventory strictly in units, even if items are received in case form.

This operation helps reduce manual errors and speeds up the receiving process by eliminating the need to manually adjust quantities!

How does Finale know how many units are in the case?

  • The system will defer to the Packing quantity associated with the barcode (product lookup) of the item

  • If there is no Packing size specified on the lookup then Finale will defer to the Std. packing specified on the product itself. Note that you will need to specify whether you are scanning a case or an "each" on the app screen before you go ahead and scan the barcode.

Which settings need to be in place to use this operation?

  • #27 Barcode Sets CS/EA toggled to "Yes"

  • #29 Convert to Eaches toggled to "Yes"
