Multi-package shipping is a special use case for shippers who create carrier labels and ship orders in Finale. Use it when a single order shipment requires more than one box, but you do not need to track the exact contents of each box. You only need the dimensions and weight for each package.
If you need to track the exact content and value for each package shipped, split sales orders into multiple shipments instead.
After you add packages to an order shipment, Finale sends the label request for every package to the carrier as one request. The carrier returns a label for each package, allowing you to print the complete set together.
Managing Packages
Manage the packages and labels for an order shipment from the shipment's gear button. Add a package when the shipment needs another box, then enter the dimensions and weight for that package.
You can add a new package or duplicate an existing one. When you duplicate a package, Finale copies its configuration, dimensions and other properties. Duplicate the package as many times as needed, then update any package details that differ.
Creating Multi-Package Labels
When you configure more than one package for a shipment, Finale requests all carrier labels at the same time. After the carrier returns the labels, Finale prints all labels for the shipment at once.
Note: Multi-package shipping is commonly used by wholesalers shipping large orders, or by any shipper who needs more than one box to ship an order.
