What are the normal settings for configuring the mobile scanner?

Getting Started with a New Mobile Barcode Scanner

Let me guess — you bought a new mobile barcode scanner, downloaded the Finale Inventory mobile app, and you’re now seeing prompts to change settings but aren’t sure which options to select? This article is for you!


Initial Setup

When you have a brand-new scanner, clear the scanner data, or reinstall the mobile app, you will need to update a handful of settings to make the scanner behave correctly.

Most Common Settings


#2. RCV Type Qty

Setting: Yes

RCV qty set to yes


This means that when receiving a purchase order, you will see a quantity box to type values into.


If left as No, the scanner defaults to “1” per scan (scan once = 1, scan again = 2, and so on).

#10. PCK Verification

Setting: Scan Slot


Used for Wave Picking; ensures you confirm picks correctly.


#11. PCK Sort By

Setting: Sublocation


Determines the order you are directed through the warehouse.

#28. Upper Case Conversion

Setting: No


Rarely needs to be set to Yes.

Set to No if you require Lot ID or Serial Numbers.
